As I'm writing this, I did a poll a few days back about who knows what sonic branding is. To my surprise, from the almost 200 people who voted the majority of them did NOT know what sonic branding was and the people who voted were either in marketing, branding, or both which was why I was so surprised.
If you don’t know what it is and you’re in marketing, branding, or any other service that helps companies gain traction and attention then you need to know what it is.
Sonic branding is more than just jingles even though jingles are a part of it. Unlike jingles which can be a full song, sonic branding can just be a few seconds long like a chime or a set of songs made for the company. A good example of this is what Mastercard did back in 2014 where every time someone uses a card by Mastercard it makes a distinct sound. Sonic branding is one of the most powerful ways for a company to stand out, be different, and connect with customers emotionally. 1 out of 5 people who are under 35 are more likely to buy a product who have sonic branding and sonic branding can also increase brand recognition by 46%. These are some out of the many statistics to show you how powerful music is to business. Take advantage of it. If you own a company, take advantage of it. Be rememberable not forgettable.
